The story is set in the world of Luento, where beastmen live and phantom beasts dwell, and describes the journey of Balm, a beastman, and Polo, a stray child phantom beast. Parm is a trimmer of phantom beasts and travels around trimming their overgrown nails and hair. The story begins when Parm meets a child of a new species of phantom beast that can speak.
ここは幻世ルエント。傲慢な獣人が支配し、純粋な幻獣が野に棲む世界。
「幻獣の調整師」を生業にするバルムは、依頼を受けて幻獣絡みの問題を解決しながら旅をする。
ある日、彼の眼前に落ちてきたのは母とはぐれた幻獣の子供、ポロ。
しかし、この珍妙な幻獣は専門家のバルムにとっても初めて見る種のようで、生態も棲息地域も分類群すらも皆目わからない。
謎の幻獣の親探し――バルムの生業旅に一つ、厄介な問題が加わってしまったのだ！
